SINGAPORE: An Anti-gambling advertisement in Singapore which launched earlier this Summer has correctly predicted the outcome of the World Cup.

The cringeworthy advert by Singapore’s National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) featured a group of boys excitedly discussing who will triumph in the ongoing World Cup – reports Channel News Asia.

At the end, one of them said while frowning: “I hope Germany wins. My dad bet all my savings on them.” The screen then faded out to a message cautioning about the social fallout of gambling.

The campaign also appears on posters across the country.

Commissioned by Singapore’s National Council on Problem Gambling, the ad was meant to “deter gamblers from gambling irresponsibly during the World Cup,” according to the local ad agency, which produced the campaign.

In Singapore, last night’s result has ‘left advertisers red-faced over an unwittingly prescient campaign’ reports the Wall Street Journal.
