Man Using Hashtags On Facebook Like It Means Something

Hashtag News: Friends and family of a man have expressed concern after his continued use of hashtags on Facebook, despite them not meaning anything.

For the last year, a 24-year-old man from Southampton has been adding hashtags to status updates and links he’s posted on Facebook, despite them not currently being a feature of the social networking site.

“Just today he posted a picture of a dog on a slide with the caption #Mondays,” said a concerned relative of the man. “Doesn’t he realise that hashtags mean nothing on Facebook? Does he think this is Twitter? His family are now considering an urgent intervention, probably through Skype.”

Other friends are worried that the man will start using hashtags in other situations that are not applicable.

“I’m dreading the day when he starts using hashtags out loud. God forbid if he turns into one of those people who end a sentence by saying ‘hashtag awkward!’. If he goes down that road, unfriending him on Facebook won’t be enough – we might just have to kill him in his sleep for the sake of everyone.”
