Gangnam Style putting unrealistic demands on South Korean pop music

Music News: South Korean musicians have lodged a formal complaint against Psy, saying that his worldwide hit ‘Gangnam Style’ has set unrealistic demands on South Korean pop music.

“Before Gangnam Style became a hit, people outside of South Korea had low expectations of our pop music,” said singer Seo-Yun Park.

“Now Psy has made it so much harder for all of us. We have to release an even catchier song, learn even more ridiculous dance moves and wear even glitzier clothes. The cost in sequins alone could bankrupt me.”

The video for Gangnam Style has had over 359 million views since its release, a fact which also bothers many South Korean pop stars.

“Gangnam Style is one of the most liked YouTube videos ever,” said boyband member Woo-Jin Shin. “How do we compete with that? If we’d have known a video featuring a man silently screaming at a girl’s backside would have been so popular, we would have done that ages ago.”

  1. See that is just the issue, Psy made gangnam style to make people happy, it just like “Au si eu te pego” in Mexico, it’s in portuguese yet it hit all over latin america. It’s just someone who took his music really serioulsy and does it for the love of the music and not for the love of getting a bunch of hits. Kpop artists want more hits, begin to do something you like and do it with all your passion.

  2. picture of man above confuses me, article confuses me, user comments confuse me :S
