Bond fans have expressed dismay at the amount of product placement in recent movies. The latest film, Skyfall, features Bond drinking Heineken and in one highly explicit scene Bond is seen wiping his anus with ‘Andrex Touch of Luxury’ toilet paper.
“Ian Fleming never mentioned what toilet paper Bond wiped with,” said Craig. “But we feel it’s details like this that help bring the character to life.”
“It makes the audience ask questions about exactly who this man is and what makes him tick. How many sheets does Bond use per wipe – does he use two or three sheets and fold, or just one sheet and run the risk of accidentally fingering himself? Maybe he’s a loose cannon, but with shitty fingers.”
Craig also says the Andrex product placement deal helped contribute towards the films high budget.
“They gave me over 500 complimentary rolls of toilet paper. I was able to sell these at a car boot sale and made nearly £300 quid. You see every single penny of that money on the big screen.”
