Planned country walk turns into looking at pictures of trees on the internet

Tree News: A Gloucestershire couple who planned a lengthy walk in the countryside have ended up staying in and looking at pictures of trees on the internet instead.

Derek and Rachel Potter had spent the week making plans to drive out to the Forest of Dean last Sunday, in order to go on a long walk in order to ‘brush off the cobwebs’ and ‘get back in touch with nature’.

It is reported the previous night the couple enjoyed several bottles of wine together, which subsequently cast doubts on the future of the walk.

These doubts where finalised when Mrs. Potter checked the weather reports online, which indicated a vague possibility of rain. The pair then spent the next few hours drinking tea and browsing pictures of forests on the popular photo sharing site Flickr.

“We can still appreciate the majesty of nature through the internet,” said Mr. Potter. “And this doesn’t involve us getting in the car and driving 30 miles – our carbon footprint is much smaller, so we’re actually doing the countryside a favour.”
