Tech News: A Hampshire woman clearly has no intention of attending an event she was invited to on Facebook, despite clicking on the ‘join’ button.

June Glover, from Alton, clicked on the ‘join’ button on the event page for her friend’s 35th birthday, although she clearly has no intention of going.

“I just didn’t want to seem rude,” said Glover. “Declining the invitation would look bad, but then so would ignoring it completely. I’m sure I can come up with some last minute excuse for not going that I can write on the wall closer to the time.”

Despite accepting the Facebook invitation, a majority of Glover’s friends remain unconvinced she’ll attend the event either. “She barley knows the woman,” said one friend.

Friends have also questioned the motives for Glover ‘liking’ various things on Facebook. “She’s just trying to come off as intelligent and sophisticated,” said another friend.

“The other day she ‘liked’ Radiohead – we get it, you’re into deep, introspective music. It certainly didn’t seem that way last weekend when she was drunk and dancing around her handbag to the The Venga Boys.”
