Health News: Mike Malone, a student at the University of San Francisco, is suing Harborside Health Center after he smoked some medical marijuana supplied by the dispensary and immediately fell ill.
“It’s a clear case of misrepresentation,” says attorney Ingrid Hale.
“Implicit in the label ‘medical marijuana’ is its supposed curative, medicinal qualities. But my client consumed this product and became seriously unwell.”
Describing his resultant illness as ‘confusing’, with bouts of nausea, fear and overwhelming hunger, Malone said he felt duty-bound to alert others to the ‘not-so medical’ side effect of the treatment.
“I was very sick and unable to continue with my studies for an entire evening. I was completely distracted by the patterns on my duvet cover and was in no way relieved of the original reason for seeking out the medication – my swollen ankle.”
