BBC issue Kappa tracksuits to Salford staff

Media News: Anxious staff at the BBC’s new Mediacity headquarters in Manchester are to be issued Kappa tracksuits so Londoners new to the city can ‘blend in’.

Corporation chiefs hope the tracksuits will help nervous Londoners seamlessly fit into their new life at Salford, which a recent internal memo described as ‘a different kettle of fish’.

“It’s one thing to say it’s a different kettle of fish,” said one BBC employee who had just moved up from London. “But do these fish come from a sustainable source? Are they line caught or trawled? And does anyone know if it’s OK to eat the rocket salad up here because I heard it’s not 100% organic?”

BBC staff are also to be given the complete discographies of Oasis, Happy Mondays, The Smiths, Take That and Simply Red to listen to, in the hope it will give them something to talk about if they find themselves trapped in a lift with a local.
