Ke$ha to join Downton Abbey cast
Country House News: It’s been announced that American singer-songwriter and rapper Ke$ha will be joining the cast of Downton Abbey, when they begin filming the third series next month.
The ‘Tik Tok’ singer will play a new character, Boobs O’Reilly, the feisty, wayward cousin of the Countess of Grantham – sent to England in a last-ditch attempt to reform her bad girl ways.
“The addition of Ke$ha to the cast is a great bonus,” said Downton Abbey writer Julian Fellowes.
“The series has been a hit in the United States – so as a well-loved and highly regarded performer in her own country, Ke$ha will both delight our American fans and give British audiences something exciting and new.”
“Downton fans shouldn’t worry about Ke$ha’s celebrated ‘modernity’,” insists Fellowes.
“It’s not like we’ll get her to do an old-fashioned accent – we’re insisting she keeps her talky white-trash delivery and when the series is in post-production we’ll go hell for leather auto-tuning her voice.”
