Man dies attempting to read Derren Brown’s mind

Celebrity News: An amateur mind-reader suffered a massive cranial haemorrhage at a Derren Brown corporate event last night. He died shortly after being admitted to hospital.

Thomas Miller, 23, an area manager for Holmes Place Health Clubs, was attending their annual event for employees at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London.

Miller, described by colleagues as a ‘quiet, dedicated young man’, was a lifelong fan of psychic performer, Derren Brown.

“He had been beside himself with excitement about seeing his hero in the flesh,” his mother, Diana Miller, told journalists this morning. “He’s been studying mind-reading since he was 14. He said, ‘Mum, this is it. This is my shot at the title.”

As Derren Brown performed card tricks and hypnosis on stage, colleagues witnessed Miller close his eyes and place his forefingers against both temples.

“He was trying to crack the mind of the master,” said co-worker Jane Felt, 29, who was sat beside Miller in row five of the auditorium. “I guess he just wasn’t ready. Brown stopped what he was doing – I think he was convincing one of the personal trainers she was Osama Bin Laden – and looked directly at Tom.”

“I heard Tom whisper ‘The horror, the horror…’ Then his eyes began to leak blood and he collapsed on the floor.”

While doctors remain unable to explain the cause of the haemorrhage, Brown denied today that he had launched any kind of psychic attack on the youngster.

“That’s nonsense,” he told Radio 4’s today programme this morning. “It is a deeply tragic event and my heartfelt condolences go out to Mr. Miller’s family. The idea, however, that this had anything to do with my enormous power is clearly preposterous.”
